Terms of Service

Effective April 22, 2026.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") cover your use of the Pinako browser extension, the pinako.pro web portal, and related services (together, "Pinako" or the "Service"). By installing the extension, creating an account, or using paid features, you agree to them.

At a glance

1. The Service

Pinako is a browser extension that organizes your tabs into a hierarchical tree. The free extension runs entirely on your computer. Paid plans add cloud sync between the extension and the pinako.pro web portal, library sharing, and AI features. Full feature details are on our pricing page and in the user guide.

2. Eligibility

You can install and use the free Pinako extension at any age, subject to your browser store's own age policies (Chrome Web Store and similar).

To create a Pinako account or subscribe to a paid plan, you must be at least 13 years old. If you are between 13 and the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Sign-in is handled by Supabase using either email and password, or OAuth through Google, GitHub, X, or Discord. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You can sign out at any time from the extension or the web portal. To delete your account and remove your synced data, use the account deletion option in the web portal.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Pinako offers four paid tiers (Pro, Pro+, Premium, Enterprise) on monthly or annual billing. Current prices are shown on our pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing you authorize Pinako and Stripe to charge your payment method for the subscription fees and any applicable taxes.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current rate, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. Renewal charges appear on the same payment method.

Cancellation. You can cancel any time from the Stripe Customer Portal, accessible from the Cloud Sync panel in the extension or the account section of the web portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep paid features until then.

Price changes. Pinako will strive to not change subscription prices, but in the unlikely event that we must, the new price will apply to your next renewal. We will give you at least 30 days notice before any increase.

5. Free trial

Pro and Pro+ monthly plans include a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. To start a trial you must provide a payment method. We will not charge you during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and your payment method is charged the monthly price.

You can cancel any time during the trial from the Stripe Customer Portal.

6. Refunds

Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Because you can try Pro and Pro+ free for 14 days, and because you can cancel monthly plans at any time before renewal, we don't issue refunds on monthly fees that have already been charged.

Annual subscriptions can be refunded pro-rated within 60 days. If you cancel an annual subscription within 60 days of your initial purchase or renewal, you can request a pro-rated refund of the unused time by emailing [email protected].

Goodwill. If something goes wrong (a billing error, a feature that didn't work as advertised, a payment for a service you didn't actually use), email us. We'll work it out.

7. License to use Pinako

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Pinako for your personal or internal business purposes, subject to these Terms. Pinako and its design, code, and trademarks remain our property. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, decompile, or reverse-engineer the extension or web portal except where required by law.

8. Your content

You own the tabs, libraries, notes, memos, tags, and other content you store in Pinako (your "Content"). To run the Service, you grant us a limited license to host, store, transmit, and display your Content as needed to provide cloud sync, library sharing, and AI features. We do not sell your Content, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

If you make a library public, you grant us and anyone who has the share link the right to view that library at the access level you set. You can revoke public access at any time from the library settings.

9. Acceptable use

Don't use Pinako to:

We can suspend or terminate accounts and remove content that violates this section.

10. Public libraries and copyright

Pinako lets you mark a library as public and share it via a direct link. Anyone who has the link can view a public library, and search engines may index it once the link is discoverable on the web. You are responsible for what you put in a public library, including any third-party rights in that content.

DMCA notices. If you believe a public library infringes your copyright, send a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to our designated agent:

Your notice must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
  3. identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information for us to locate it (the library URL is fine);
  4. your contact information (address, phone, email);
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

We respond to valid notices in a reasonable time and may remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content. Accounts that repeatedly infringe will be terminated. If you believe your content was removed in error, you can submit a counter-notice to the same address.

11. Third-party services

Pinako relies on third-party services, including Stripe (payments), Supabase (auth and database), xAI (AI Search), and your browser (Chrome, Brave, Edge, and similar). Their terms and privacy policies apply to your use of those services through Pinako. We are not responsible for changes to or outages in third-party services.

12. Service changes and discontinuation

We add, change, and remove features regularly. Most changes are minor and shipped without notice.

If we make a material change that adversely affects paid features (for example, removing a tier, materially reducing limits, or shutting down the Service), we will give you at least 30 days notice in the extension or by email. You may cancel your subscription and request a pro-rated refund of any prepaid annual time.

13. Termination

You can stop using Pinako at any time by uninstalling the extension and, if you have an account, deleting it from the web portal.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if continuing to provide the Service is no longer feasible. We will give reasonable notice when we can.

The sections of these Terms that should survive termination (Your content, License, Acceptable use, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability, Indemnification, Governing law, and General) continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers

Pinako is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that your data will never be lost. Cloud sync depends on third-party services that can go down. Always keep your own backups of important data using the export feature.

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Pinako and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the total fees you paid to Pinako in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. In those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

16. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Pinako against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of a third party. We will notify you promptly of any such claim and let you control the defense.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections, those protections still apply to you.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will bump the effective date at the top of this page and post a notice in the extension. Continued use of Pinako after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

19. General

These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Pinako about the Service and supersede any earlier agreements on the subject. If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver.
